From our birth, some even affirm that it happens from our gestation, we are exposed to multiple situations, emotions and feelings that condition and shape our being. When incarnating, the soul is pure in its essence, but it has to learn to relate to and survive within the context in which it was born. The human beings that make up your immediate family nucleus are the first to impact, positively or negatively, on your psyche. Its circle of interaction with society and environment gradually expands, increasing the number of people who will condition its development and evolution.
The essence of the soul is wrapped in its own personalities, that allow it to coexist with its physical and social environment. With the passing of time, these layers accumulate, solidify and reinforce… integrating themselves into the configuration of that being. Sometimes the original soul goes into the background, or is so covered by these developed layers, that it can be forgotten that first and foremost it is a being of light and its personality becomes the protagonist. If someone asked him who he is, his answer would be based purely on describing this person-identity that he has managed to assimilate over time.
The sense of wonder, an essential part of the soul, is gradually lost as we stop being children and accept the call of the world to experience life. We learn to be social beings and we acquire security and determination to face life. The duality of the world manifests itself more and more strongly, the expectations and dreams acquired by the imposed duty, become so real and personal, that they begin to dictate our life decisions. For many, this could remain the same for their entire incarnation, resulting in zero or almost zero learning, since the soul is imprisoned inside the being, with difficulty breathing, expanding and evolving. But for others, there comes a time in life when the questions take hold, the connection with the soul becomes present and the transparent fortresses that had been built throughout life begin to falter. It is there, where one can begin to question the life that one has created and try to discern which part of the created identity is in line with one’s true being, and how much is part of the collective in which one lives immersed. Only in this way can we speak of a true path towards the transformation of being, which begins with becoming aware of that light that resides within us.
Perhaps it has happened to you that, in moments of extreme sadness, disappointment or turbulence, when it seems that your whole world is collapsing and does not make any sense, when you take a deep breath and take some time for yourself, you can feel that inner light, like a small flame in the center of your heart. It is magical to connect with it and realize that despite everything you have had to live through, its purity, perfection, beauty and brilliance remain intact and immutable; and you know that somehow everything will be fine and that what ails you will also pass.
If for any reason you feel this way right now, give yourself some time and space to breathe deeply, close your eyes and place your attention in the center of your chest, near your heart, and visualize that burning flame vibrating inside you. May each inhalation be a powerful force that intensifies your light, always expanding and shining to infinity.
Now, what can we do to reconnect with our essence and live in this world being more faithful to our being?
It is time to TRANSMIGRATE.
To understand what TRANSMIGRATION is:
We start by defining the word from a physical context. People migrate from one place to another, but after a while they can return to their place of origin. Transmigrating implies moving and fully integrating yourself to the new place of residence, adapting to the new schemes and social conditions. You can keep part of your essence and origin, but by staying in the new place, people end up fully integrating into their new residence. It implies never residing again in your place of origin.
Seen from a very clear example of transmigration, which happens in nature, we can see how a caterpillar migrates to become a butterfly. In this case, it creates a chrysalis to stay there for its entire transformation period and only comes out until it has become a butterfly; and once a butterfly, it can never again be a caterpillar.
In the spiritual sense, the term transmigration of souls has been used for thousands of years, to indicate the passage from life to death, to migrate to the spiritual world. This varies according to the specific religions, philosophies and/or beliefs of each society, historical period or person. But in essence, it implies a transformation that contemplates an evolution from one level of consciousness to another, with the certainty that it will never be possible to return to the state prior to migration. If we delve deeper into this topic and include the concept of reincarnation, then the way to transmigrate as souls would imply ascending in a state of consciousness, so as not to have to reincarnate again on this plane, but to migrate to a space of higher vibration with a level of higher and subtler consciousness.
It was in 2011 when this word came to my mind for the first time, while I was taking a summer course at a fashion school in Milan, Italy. Focused on perfecting my illustration technique, I was asked to design an avant-garde fashion collection, in order to practice both the creative process and visual representation techniques. In my introspection process, to define a concept that would serve as inspiration and be the trigger for the ideas to be developed in the collection, the word TRANSMIGRATION emerged.
As it often happens to me, between astral travel, lucid dreams and conscious thoughts, ideas and images come together to take concrete form and provide meaning to things. Images of beetles and orchids prevailed this time. The visions focused on a gradual change where the beetle began to sprout petals, until it completely became an orchid. Delving deeper into this concept, I can share my justification for this project:
The beetle is an animal that visually projects roughness and hermeticism, due to its conformation based on rigid elements that create a type of framework. We could see them as very strong and resistant beings, as if they were warriors; but its rigid exterior actually serves to protect the gelatinous composition that makes up its interior. Taking this to a symbolic meaning applied to people, we could relate it to all those people who appear to be very strong, aggressive or tough, full of shields and armor, both physically and in their behavior. In reality they use these elements to help them protect their inner frailty. This is usually the result of living previous painful or traumatic experiences, which have led them to adopt or create these shields, to prevent similar situations from happening again.
Orchids, like most flowers, open themselves completely to life despite the imminent fragility that conforms them. In a special way, this type of flower is very special and particular, since it usually blooms when it is surrounded by love and harmony. It is very sensitive to the emotions and feelings of its environment. The growth of each of its leaves is very gradual. Discovering the birth of a stem that will bear a cluster of orchids is a spectacle in itself. The frailty of each flower is exposed when it opens in its entirety to live fully and in perfect harmony. In a sense, it takes more courage and strength to show yourself to the world and live in tune with who you really are, than to go through life so busy protecting yourself from being harmed, that the importance of living and experiencing life takes second place.
I would like to take a moment to clarify and express my love for beetles and orchids. Both special and beautiful beings in their nature and reality. I have chosen them only as an analogy to exemplify states of consciousness applied to the human being, in order to represent the transmigration of the BEING.
The expression of this entire creative process converged in the following ‘moodboard’, which clearly represents the concept of inspiration, as well as the range of colors that I desired to implement in the collection. Several phrases also emerged that helped me reinforce the creative concept.
The collection shows the gradual transformation of the beetle towards the orchid. The shells soften, allowing certain petals to emerge through them. The colors gradually transform until they reach white. The final result can be seen in the sequence of illustrations presented below:
EVOLVE TO A HIGHER STATE OF BEING
SHIELDS ARE OFTEN USED TO PROTECT THE REAL ESSENCE OF ONESELF
BE TRULY YOURSELF EVEN IF THIS MEANS EXPOSING YOUR INNER FRAILTY
When speaking of TRANSMIGRATION, one speaks of life and death, of radical changes, of deep transformations. Although it would be incredible if we could all implement it in our lives, in practice it could seem very far from our reality and almost impossible to achieve.
What if we could transmigrate one step at a time?
This translates into visualizing definitive changes in our way of being but focusing our attention on transmigrating one aspect at a time. It would contemplate starting a path of introspection and personal self-knowledge, which would allow us to connect with our soul’s essence and identify everything that needs to be transformed or eliminated.
Evolving and gradually raising our state of consciousness would definitely be something feasible and easier to make a reality in our lives. If we manage to identify a mask, shield or shell… any aspect that in some way limits our evolution, we could become aware of it and work from love to completely transmigrate it. This would imply letting it go in its entirety, transforming it into light and never needing or depending on it again.
It is evident that some shells may still be necessary and that it will be difficult to let them go. It is important to remember that each soul has its time and space to evolve. Therefore, each one must consider which are the aspects of their person that are ready to be transformed and which ones need to remain integrated into their identity and personality. In the same way, it is important to consider that each change achieved, each improvement implemented in our way of being and interaction with the world and the collective, will bring us closer to the best version of ourselves.
MAY YOUR PASSING THROUGH LIFE
BECOMES A PATH
OF CONTINUOUS TRANSFORMATION
MAY YOUR SOUL,
REVITALIZED AND STRENGTHENED,
BE ABLE TO BREATHE DEPPER EVERY DAY
MAY THE WORLD
HAVE THE JOY OF EXPERIENCING THE BEST
VERSION OF YOURSELF, SHINING IN LIGHT
